Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana (OSI) is recognized for its versatile repertoire, encompassing works from the classical and romantic periods alongside 20th and 21st-century compositions. The orchestra frequently commissions new pieces and actively promotes Swiss composers, demonstrating a commitment to both tradition and innovation. Formed in 1991 through the merger of the Orchestra della Radio Svizzera Italiana and the Orchestra Cantonale Ticinese, OSI serves as the resident orchestra of the RSI (Swiss Italian-language radio and television).

Sala Docks Lugano, the venue for the May 15th, 2027 concert, is a significant cultural hub in Lugano. Originally an industrial warehouse situated on Lake Lugano, it underwent extensive renovation in the early 1990s, transforming it into a modern performance space. Designed by architect Mario Botta, the building retains elements of its industrial past while incorporating contemporary architectural features. The hall is known for its acoustics and flexible configuration allowing for various event formats beyond orchestral performances – including exhibitions and conferences.
