Initially rooted in lo-fi indie pop, of Montreal’s sound has incorporated elements of psychedelic pop, glam rock, electronica, and funk over the course of numerous albums. Lyrically, their work often explores themes of relationships, mental health, and surreal imagery. The band has released over a dozen studio albums, gaining a dedicated following for their energetic live performances and constantly shifting aesthetic.

Babeville is a multi-use arts venue located in the historic Allentown neighborhood of Buffalo. Originally built in 1921 as the Elks Temple No. 21, the building underwent extensive renovations after falling into disrepair. It reopened in 2006 as Babeville, named after the fictional utopian community envisioned by the Bahaʼí Faith founder Baháʼu'lláh. The venue now comprises two primary performance spaces: the larger Asbury Hall – a restored ballroom – and the smaller DBRL (Deep Blue Residence Lounge).
