Ralph Wilson Park, formerly known as South Park, underwent a significant renovation and was officially rededicated in honor of Buffalo Bills founder Ralph C. Wilson Jr. in 2015. The park spans 207 acres and features a diverse landscape including walking trails, athletic fields, a casino, and extensive green spaces designed for community recreation and events. It’s historically significant as one of Frederick Law Olmsted’s earliest park designs – predating his more famous work in Central Park – completed in 1871. The park’s design reflects Olmsted’s principles of pastoral landscapes intended to provide respite from urban life. The park continues to serve as a major public space within the city of Buffalo hosting numerous community gatherings annually.
