Classical Concerts in Tokyo

Experience Nobuyuki Tsujii live on October 3rd

Nobuyuki Tsujii, a Japanese pianist who gained international recognition as a joint winner of the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, will perform at Suntory Hall in Tokyo on October 3, 2026. Tsujii is known for his deeply expressive and technically brilliant performances, often characterized by a romantic and poetic interpretation of classical repertoire. He performs entirely from memory, despite being blind since birth, and frequently champions both established works and lesser-known compositions. His style blends virtuosity with emotional depth, earning him critical acclaim worldwide.

Suntory Hall, opened in 1972, is considered one of the world’s finest concert halls renowned for its exceptional acoustics. Designed by architect Mamoru Takada with acoustic consultation from Leo Beranek of Bolt Beranek and Newman, the hall was specifically engineered to achieve natural reverberation without the use of artificial amplification. It has hosted performances by leading orchestras and soloists globally and is a central venue for classical music in Japan. The hall's design incorporates extensive use of wood and a vineyard-style seating arrangement to enhance the auditory experience for all audience members.
