The Moses Yoofee Trio will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany on September 19, 2026. The trio is recognized for its distinctive blend of West African highlife guitar traditions with elements of jazz improvisation and contemporary classical music. Moses Yoofee, originally from Ghana, leads the group with intricate guitar work, supported by a rhythm section that incorporates both traditional Ghanaian percussion and modern instrumentation. Their compositions often feature complex polyrhythms and melodic structures rooted in Ghanaian musical heritage, yet are presented with a distinctly cosmopolitan sensibility.

The Elbphilharmonie itself opened in January 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns. Built atop an existing warehouse structure (the Kaispeicher A), it has quickly become a landmark building and a major cultural venue in Hamburg. Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, the concert hall is renowned for its exceptional acoustics, achieved through the innovative “vineyard” design of the seating arrangement surrounding the stage. This design minimizes sound reflection and creates a more intimate connection between performers and audience members. The building also houses a hotel, residential apartments, and public viewing platforms offering panoramic views of the city and harbor.
