Molchat Doma, a Belarusian post-punk band formed in Minsk in 2017, will be performing at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo County, California on August 29, 2026. The band’s music is characterized by its dark, minimalist soundscapes, often featuring baritone vocals sung primarily in Russian, alongside influences from 1980s post-punk and new wave. Their lyrical themes frequently explore alienation, societal anxieties, and introspection. They gained international recognition through social media and have since toured extensively.

The Fremont Theater, located in downtown SLO, originally opened in 1942 as a single-screen movie palace designed in the Art Deco style. It underwent a significant renovation and reopened in 2001 as a live performance venue. The theater maintains much of its original architectural detail including ornate plasterwork and a prominent marquee. With a capacity of approximately 850 standing or 650 seated guests, it hosts a variety of events including concerts, comedy shows, and film screenings. The venue is owned by the City of San Luis Obispo and operated by Vina Robles Amphitheatre Management.
