The Elbphilharmonie itself is a prominent concert hall situated in the HafenCity district of Hamburg. Construction began in 2007 and concluded in 2017, built atop an existing warehouse structure known as the Kaispeicher A. The architectural design, by Herzog & de Meuron, integrates the historic brick warehouse with a striking glass superstructure. It’s renowned for its exceptional acoustics, achieved through the work of Yasuhisa Toyota, and its "White Skin" – a curved glass facade designed to optimize sound reflection and provide panoramic city views.

The hall contains the Grand Hall (Großer Saal), seating approximately 2,100 people, and the smaller Recital Hall (Kleiner Saal), accommodating around 550 guests.
