Michael Seal, currently Principal Conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, will be appearing at Symphony Hall, Birmingham on January 23rd, 2027. Seal is recognised for his engaging and accessible conducting style, often focusing on bringing fresh interpretations to both standard repertoire and lesser-known works. His performances are frequently praised for their clarity and emotional depth, spanning a broad range including Romantic and 20th/21st-century compositions. He regularly collaborates with orchestras across Europe and beyond.

Symphony Hall opened in September 1991 and is widely regarded as having one of the finest acoustic spaces in Europe. Designed by Renton Eggleston Preddy, the hall was specifically engineered for orchestral music; its shoebox shape and lack of parallel surfaces contribute to its renowned natural reverberation. The hall hosts over 300 performances annually, encompassing classical music, jazz, rock, pop, and other genres. It is the home of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and has played host to numerous internationally acclaimed musicians and ensembles since its inauguration. The building also incorporates the Adrian Boult Hall – a smaller performance space – and various rehearsal rooms.
