Matti Klein will perform a concert at Burg Wilhelmstein in Würselen, Germany on August 23, 2026. Klein is a German musician known for his modern interpretations of folk music, often described as “Neofolk” or “Deutschpop.” His style blends traditional German folk elements with contemporary pop and rock instrumentation, incorporating lyrical themes often centered around storytelling, nature, and personal reflection. He frequently utilizes instruments like acoustic guitar, piano, and incorporates electronic soundscapes into his compositions.
Burg Wilhelmstein is a historically significant castle located on a hilltop overlooking the city of Aachen and the surrounding region. Originally constructed between 1873 and 1875 by the industrialist Julius Ausleger, it was designed in the style of a medieval knight’s castle, though it was never intended as a defensive structure. Ausleger commissioned the construction as a private residence and a monument to German history and mythology – specifically referencing the legend of Wilhelm von Nassau-Saarbrücken. Following Ausleger's death, the castle passed through various ownerships before being acquired by the city of Würselen in 1954.
