Marisa Anderson is a guitarist and composer known for her instrumental work rooted in American primitive guitar traditions, drawing influences from folk, blues, and experimental music. Her compositions often feature intricate fingerpicking, evocative melodies, and a spacious, atmospheric quality. Anderson has released several albums to critical acclaim on labels such as Kranky and Locust Music, and frequently tours internationally.
The Glad Cafe is a community arts venue located in the Shawlands area of Glasgow. Originally established as a traditional cafe in 1908 by the Scottish Temperance League, it operated as a temperance cafe for many years. In recent decades it transitioned into a hub for live music, theatre, film screenings and other artistic events. The space maintains a distinctly intimate atmosphere with a focus on showcasing emerging and established artists across various disciplines.
The venue underwent significant challenges following a fire in 2014 but was successfully rebuilt through community fundraising efforts and reopened in 2016. It continues to operate as an independent venue committed to supporting the local arts scene and providing a platform for diverse creative expression. The building itself reflects its history with original architectural features alongside modern additions.
