Glasgow Royal Concert Hall opened in 1990 and is a prominent cultural venue in Scotland. The hall’s main auditorium, the New Auditorium, is particularly noted for its shoebox design – a traditional shape favoured for optimal sound quality – and its adjustable acoustics allowing it to be tailored to different ensemble sizes and musical genres. It replaced the city’s previous main concert hall which was located within the City Chambers building. The venue also houses the smaller Buchanan Hall suitable for recitals and smaller ensembles.
