Kloster Eberbach is a former Cistercian monastery founded in 1135. Situated in the Rheingau wine region, it played a significant role in viticulture from the Middle Ages onward, with the monks cultivating vineyards and developing winemaking techniques. Following secularisation in 1803, the monastery transitioned into state ownership and underwent periods of use as a Prussian forestry academy and later as a psychiatric hospital.
