London Brass, formed in 1985 from leading players of the London Symphony, Royal Philharmonic, and English Chamber Orchestras, quickly established themselves as a uniquely versatile brass ensemble. Initially conceived to perform arrangements of orchestral works – notably those of Bach, Handel, and Mozart – for smaller venues, their repertoire rapidly expanded. They are renowned for their energetic performances and technically brilliant arrangements spanning classical, jazz, and popular music.

The group’s discography includes critically acclaimed recordings on Decca/Philips and Hyperion Records, featuring everything from Purcell’s *Abdelazer* suite to arrangements of Gershwin and Bernstein. London Brass pioneered a vibrant approach to brass chamber music, incorporating theatrical elements and audience interaction into their concerts.

They have toured extensively internationally, performing at major festivals and concert halls worldwide. Notably, they were resident ensemble at the Barbican Centre in London for several years. While the core membership has evolved over time, London Brass continues to perform selectively, maintaining its reputation for exceptional musicianship and innovative programming. Their influence is evident in the proliferation of professional brass ensembles globally.
