Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra (LCJO) will perform at The Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Maryland on May 11, 2027. LCJO, under the leadership of Music Director Wynton Marsalis, is globally renowned for its dedication to the preservation and promotion of jazz music, particularly that of the big band tradition. Their repertoire frequently encompasses compositions by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, and other foundational figures, alongside original works commissioned from contemporary composers. The orchestra emphasizes historically informed performance practice and strives to demonstrate the evolution of jazz as an art form.

The Music Center at Strathmore opened in 2003 and serves as a multi-disciplinary arts center in Montgomery County, Maryland. It comprises two distinct venues: the Concert Hall, designed to replicate the acoustic qualities of Vienna’s Musikverein, and the smaller Mansion at Strathmore, a restored historic estate. The center hosts a diverse range of performances including classical music, jazz, world music, and dance; it also offers educational programs and community outreach initiatives. Strathmore is named for the historic Strathmore estate upon which it is built and aims to be a regional cultural hub.
