Experience Samara Joy live on September 25th
Samara Joy is a vocalist rapidly gaining recognition for her interpretations of jazz standards and explorations into vocal jazz compositions. Her style is rooted in the tradition of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Billie Holiday, characterized by a rich tone, improvisational skill, and a clear, emotive delivery. She frequently performs both classic arrangements and original material, often accompanied by piano, bass, and drums in configurations reminiscent of mid-20th century jazz ensembles. Joy won the 2023 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album for *Linger Awhile*.
The Music Center at Strathmore is located in North Bethesda, Maryland and opened in 2003. It serves as the cultural hub for Montgomery County, Maryland. The center comprises two venues: the Concert Hall – a 1,976-seat performance space known for its acoustics – and the smaller 300-seat Mansion at Strathmore. Originally the estate of philanthropist Rachel Schlesinger, the property was transformed into a public arts center through a combination of public and private funding. Strathmore hosts a diverse range of performances including classical music, jazz, world music, and contemporary artists.
