Lido Pimienta is a Colombian-Canadian musician whose work blends traditional Afro-Colombian rhythms, electronic music, and politically charged lyricism. Her sound frequently incorporates elements of cumbia, bullerengue, and champeta, often layered with synthesizers and experimental production techniques. Pimienta’s music addresses themes of colonialism, sexism, and social justice, delivered with a powerful vocal style and a distinctive artistic vision. She has received significant critical acclaim, including a 2020 Polaris Music Prize for her album *Miss Colombia*.

Wonder Ballroom, located in Portland’s Kerns neighborhood, has been a prominent venue for live music since opening in 1991. Originally established as a roller skating rink in 1923, the building underwent renovations to transform it into a performance space.
