Level 2 is a British electronic music duo known for their productions within the drum and bass genre, often incorporating elements of jungle, breakbeat hardcore, and atmospheric soundscapes. Formed in 1992, the group – consisting of Mark Archer and Peshay – gained prominence throughout the 1990s with releases on influential labels like Metalheadz and Reinforced Records. Their sound is characterised by complex rhythmic patterns, deep basslines, and a focus on sonic texture. While maintaining a dedicated following, Level 2’s output became less frequent in the 2000s but they have continued to perform sporadically and release new material.

The Old Sawmills is a venue located in Bristol, United Kingdom, with a history rooted in the city’s vibrant underground music scene. Originally functioning as part of St. Philips Marsh’s industrial area – specifically as sawmills – the building was repurposed into a club space in the early 1990s. It became particularly well-known for its association with rave and electronic music culture, hosting events focused on genres such as house, techno, and drum & bass. The venue is noted for its intimate atmosphere and raw aesthetic reflecting its industrial origins.
