Experience Les Musiciens du Louvre live on January 17th
Les Musiciens du Louvre, founded by Marc Minkowski in 1982, is a French period instrument orchestra specializing in Baroque and Classical era music. The ensemble is renowned for its historically informed performances, striving for authenticity in sound and interpretation based on research into performance practices of the 17th and 18th centuries. Their repertoire extends beyond core orchestral works to include operas and lesser-known composers from the period.
Victoria Hall in Geneva, Switzerland, opened in 1894 and is considered one of Europe’s most prestigious concert venues. Designed by Ferdinand Châtelain, it’s celebrated for its exceptional acoustics, largely attributed to its unique “shoe-box” shape and careful construction using specific materials. Throughout its history, Victoria Hall has hosted numerous internationally acclaimed orchestras and soloists. It serves as the primary performance space for the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande but also welcomes visiting ensembles throughout the year. The hall underwent significant renovations in recent years to modernize facilities while preserving its original acoustic qualities. The building itself is noted for its ornate Belle Époque architecture and remains a landmark within Geneva's cultural landscape.
