Kungliga Filharmonikerna Kör, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Choir, is recognized for its performance of both choral orchestral repertoire and a cappella works, spanning from the Renaissance period to contemporary compositions. The choir frequently collaborates with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and performs a diverse range of styles including sacred music, opera choruses, and large-scale orchestral works with vocal components. They are known for their precision, tonal quality, and expressive interpretations.
The concert will be held at Konserthuset Stockholm, inaugurated in 1926. Designed by architect Ivar Tengbom, it is renowned for its exceptional acoustics, largely attributed to the design inspired by the shoebox shape of the Musikverein in Vienna. The hall’s interior features Swedish artwork and materials, notably the murals by Adam Elmgren and sculptures by Carl Milles.
Konserthuset serves as the primary venue for the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and hosts a variety of musical events throughout the year. It is considered one of Sweden’s most important cultural landmarks and a significant concert hall internationally. The building underwent extensive renovations between 1997-2000 to further enhance its acoustic properties and facilities while preserving its original architectural character.
