Kazuki Yamada will conduct a performance at Symphony Hall, Birmingham on March 17, 2027. Yamada is a Japanese conductor recognized for his insightful interpretations and meticulous attention to detail, often praised for bringing clarity and emotional depth to both orchestral standards and contemporary works. His repertoire is broad, encompassing composers from the Baroque period through to the 21st century, with particular acclaim for his performances of Mahler and Japanese composers. He is currently Principal Conductor of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich, and frequently collaborates with leading international orchestras.

Symphony Hall opened in 1991 and is widely regarded as one of the finest concert halls in the world, celebrated for its exceptional acoustics. Designed by Renton, Eggert & Associates, the hall was specifically engineered to provide an optimal listening experience, utilizing a shoebox design and incorporating adjustable acoustic elements. It is home to the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) and hosts over 300 performances annually spanning classical music, jazz, rock, pop, and other genres. The hall’s construction was part of a wider regeneration project for Birmingham’s city centre. It consistently ranks highly in international surveys of concert hall acoustics.
