Kahil El’Zabar is a highly influential American percussionist, composer, and bandleader deeply rooted in the avant-garde jazz tradition, yet incorporating elements of African polyrhythms, spiritual jazz, and spoken word. The Jack London Revue is a long-standing performance venue in Portland, Oregon, located in the city’s Buckman neighborhood. Originally established as a supper club in 1935 by Jack London (no relation to the author), it operated continuously until the 1980s before undergoing periods of closure and renovation.
