Joe Lovano, a highly regarded American jazz saxophonist and composer, will perform at The Music Center at Strathmore on October 18, 2026. Lovano’s musical style is rooted in the post-bop tradition, yet incorporates elements of hard bop, modal jazz, and avant-garde influences. He is known for his lyrical tenor saxophone playing, complex improvisations, and exploration of diverse tonal colors. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with numerous prominent jazz musicians including Elvin Jones, McCoy Tyner, and Keith Jarrett. He has received multiple Grammy nominations and DownBeat magazine awards recognizing his contributions to jazz.

The Music Center at Strathmore opened in 2003 and is located in North Bethesda, Maryland. It serves as a cultural hub for Montgomery County and the broader Washington D.C. metropolitan area. The center features two primary performance spaces: the 1,976-seat Concert Hall, known for its excellent acoustics and designed for orchestral performances, opera, and large ensemble jazz concerts; and the 300-seat Music Room which hosts more intimate recitals and smaller ensembles.
