Jean-Michel Blais is a Canadian composer and pianist known for his contemporary classical music, often described as minimalist and deeply emotive. His compositions frequently incorporate prepared piano techniques – altering the instrument’s sound by placing objects on or between the strings – alongside electronic processing and ambient textures. Blais’s work explores themes of memory, vulnerability, and the interplay between acoustic and digital soundscapes, resulting in pieces that are both intimate and expansive. He gained significant recognition following his 2016 Polaris Music Prize win for his album *Dans ma main*.

Théâtre Lionel-Groulx, located in Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, is a prominent performing arts venue serving the Laurentian region north of Montreal.
