Experience Jean-Michel Blais live on February 14th
Jean-Michel Blais will perform at the Grand Théâtre de Québec on February 14, 2027. Blais is a Canadian composer and pianist known for his contemporary classical music, often described as minimalist and deeply emotive. His work frequently incorporates prepared piano techniques – altering the instrument’s sound by placing objects on or between the strings – alongside electronic processing and ambient textures. He gained significant recognition following his 2016 Polaris Music Prize win for his album *Dense Atlas*.
The Grand Théâtre de Québec opened in 1971 and is a major performing arts venue in Quebec City. Designed by architect Denis Payette, its distinctive architecture features a concrete shell intended to resemble a blossoming flower. The theatre comprises four halls: the Jeanne d'Arc Hall (the largest, primarily for opera and ballet), the Louis-Fréchette Hall (used for concerts and conferences), the Studio-Théâtre (a more intimate space), and the Salle du Conseil. It functions as both a presenting organization, hosting national and international productions, and a rental venue for various events.
