The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO), under the leadership of Wynton Marsalis, will perform at The Music Center at Strathmore on May 11, 2027. JLCO is a renowned ensemble dedicated to performing and promoting jazz music, with a particular focus on the vast repertoire of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and other masters. Their performances typically encompass a broad range of jazz styles – from early New Orleans jazz to swing, bebop, and contemporary compositions – emphasizing both historical accuracy and innovative interpretation. The orchestra comprises 15 of the finest jazz musicians in the world.

The Music Center at Strathmore opened in 2003 and is located in North Bethesda, Maryland. It functions as a multi-disciplinary arts center serving the region. The center’s design incorporates two concert halls: the larger Music Center at Strathmore hall seating approximately 1,976 patrons and a smaller experimental theatre. Originally the estate of philanthropist Florence Bain Thompson Marquand, Strathmore was transformed from a private mansion into a public arts venue through a public-private partnership between Montgomery County and private donors.
