Immanuel Wilkins is a contemporary American jazz saxophonist and composer recognized for his emotionally resonant and harmonically sophisticated approach to the alto saxophone. His music often blends elements of post-bop, spiritual jazz, and free improvisation, frequently exploring themes of Black American history and identity. Wilkins gained prominence as a member of the collective Revryry and has since released critically acclaimed albums as a leader, including “Omega” and “The 7”. He is known for his intensely focused improvisations and compositions that balance structure with open exploration.
SFJAZZ is a non-profit organization dedicated to jazz performance, education, and advocacy, based in San Francisco. Founded in 1983 by Brent Hayes, it initially presented concerts in various venues throughout the city before opening its permanent home, the SFJAZZ Center, in 2013. The SFJAZZ Center features the Robert N. Miner Auditorium, a state-of-the-art performance space designed specifically for jazz acoustics. The organization hosts over 300 performances annually featuring both established masters and emerging artists from around the globe.
