Horse Lords is a Washington D.C.-based band known for their instrumental post-punk sound, often characterized by interlocking guitar patterns, complex polyrhythms, and influences from minimalist composers like Steve Reich and West African guitar music. Formed in 2009, the quartet – Andrew Means (guitar), Max Eilbacher (guitar), Sam Haberman (bass), and Ethan Everett (drums) – has released albums on labels including Important Records and Rune Gramophone. Their music avoids traditional song structures, prioritizing texture and rhythmic interplay.

Hotel Cecil has a long history as a central hub for Copenhagen’s counterculture and alternative music scenes. Originally opened as a hotel in 1903, it quickly became associated with bohemians and artists. Throughout the 20th century it hosted numerous significant cultural events, including early jazz performances and gatherings of avant-garde writers. In the 1970s and 80s it was particularly prominent within the punk and new wave movements in Denmark.
