Originally founded in 1987 as a community project aiming to provide affordable space for local artists, it has since become known for hosting diverse musical genres including jazz, world music, and experimental sounds. The venue is intentionally intimate, fostering a close connection between performers and audience members; its capacity is approximately 150 people. It maintains a reputation for supporting emerging artists alongside more established names within its chosen genres. The building itself is a repurposed industrial space contributing to its unique atmosphere.
