Stan Getz, a highly influential American jazz saxophonist, will be performing at The Jazz Cafe in London on June 30th, 2026. Getz is best known for popularizing bossa nova and cool jazz. His playing is characterized by a light, airy tone, lyrical improvisation, and a distinctive vibrato. Throughout his career, spanning from the late 1940s until his death in 1991, he moved between bebop, hard bop, and eventually embraced the Brazilian sounds that defined much of his later work – notably collaborations with João Gilberto and Antônio Carlos Jobim.

The Jazz Cafe itself opened in 1990 and has become a prominent fixture on the London jazz scene. Located in Camden Town, it’s renowned for its intimate setting and commitment to showcasing both established international artists and emerging talent. Originally a cinema and then a ballroom, the venue was refurbished to specifically cater to live music performances. It consistently hosts artists across a range of jazz subgenres including contemporary jazz, Latin jazz, funk and soul. The venue's layout provides relatively close proximity between performers and audience members creating an immersive experience.
