Garry Walker is a British composer known for his vibrant and often dramatic orchestral writing, frequently incorporating elements of neo-romanticism and film scoring techniques. His compositions are characterised by strong melodic content, rich harmonic textures, and a focus on evocative storytelling through music. He has received commissions from numerous orchestras and ensembles internationally, and his work spans concert hall pieces, ballet scores, and contributions to video games.

The performance will take place at Huddersfield Town Hall, a Grade I listed Victorian building completed in 1881. Designed by Joseph Kaye, the Town Hall was built following a public competition and represents a significant example of Victorian Gothic Revival architecture. It features a prominent clock tower and ornate stonework detailing both externally and internally.

Throughout its history, Huddersfield Town Hall has served as a focal point for civic life in the town, hosting council meetings, ceremonies, and public events. The Great Hall, where the concert will be held, is renowned for its excellent acoustics due to its design incorporating principles of sound reflection and resonance. It houses a notable pipe organ constructed by Brindley & Foster in 1886 which has undergone restoration work over the years to maintain its original qualities.
