Beginning his professional career in the 1980s, Walker gained prominence as the drummer for bands like Vixen and Shadowfax before becoming a sought-after session musician.

He’s best known for his long-standing collaboration with Marillion, joining the band in 1992 following Ian Mosley’s illness and remaining their drummer to this day. Walker's powerful, precise drumming style is a hallmark of Marillion’s sound during this period, contributing significantly to albums like *Brave* and *Afraid of Sunlight*.
