Coal Drops Yard is a historically significant area located near King's Cross and St Pancras stations. Originally built in the mid-19th century as a coal storage and handling facility for the Great Northern Railway, the site comprised two triangular warehouses designed by architect William Cubitt. For decades it functioned as an industrial hub, receiving coal transported from the north of England.

Following years of disuse after the decline of coal transport, the area underwent extensive redevelopment led by Heatherwick Studio and opened as a retail and lifestyle destination in 2018. The redevelopment carefully preserved the Victorian ironwork and brick architecture while integrating modern shops, restaurants, and public spaces.
