Robert F. Wagner Jr. Park is a 3.7-acre waterfront park located in Battery Park City, Manhattan. Originally constructed in the 1990s as part of the larger Battery Park City development project – a planned residential community built on land created by excavation material from the World Trade Center site – the park offers views of the New York Harbor, including the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. It’s named after former New York City Mayor Robert F. Wagner Jr., who was instrumental in initiating the Battery Park City project during his tenure from 1954 to 1965.
