Experience Robert F. Wagner Jr. Park

Robert F. Wagner Jr. Park, located on the Harlem River in Manhattan, is a 4.7-acre waterfront park renowned for its summer concert series, SummerStage. Originally constructed as a shipping pier in the early 20th century, it was transformed into a public space in 1996 and dedicated to the former New York City mayor.

The park’s defining feature is its bandshell – a permanent, covered stage offering excellent acoustics and unobstructed views of the Harlem River and the Palisades. Unlike many outdoor venues relying on temporary staging, Wagner Park provides a consistent performance space. SummerStage consistently hosts a diverse range of musical genres including Latin, jazz, hip-hop, world music, and contemporary pop/rock acts; often featuring established artists alongside emerging talents.

Historically significant as a free public space fostering community engagement, it's become integral to New York City’s summer cultural landscape. Beyond concerts, the park offers green lawns for relaxation and picnicking, plus pedestrian walkways connecting to the Hudson River Greenway. Its location provides stunning sunset views enhancing the concert experience.
