Eliahu Inbal will conduct a concert at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre on February 18, 2027. Inbal is recognized for his meticulous and deeply researched interpretations, often focusing on structural clarity and a historically informed approach to performance practice. He’s particularly known for his extensive work with Mahler, Bruckner, and late-Romantic/early 20th-century repertoire, emphasizing textural transparency and revealing inner voices within orchestral scores. Throughout his career, he has held principal conducting positions with orchestras including the Frankfurt Radio Symphony and the Vienna Symphony.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre opened in 1993 as a central hub for performing arts in Tokyo. Designed by architect Takamitsu Imamura, the complex encompasses three main halls: the Main Hall, seating approximately 1,999; the Pit Hall, a flexible space accommodating up to 834; and the Studio Lux, a smaller experimental theatre. The venue hosts a diverse range of performances including opera, ballet, theatre, concerts and dance. It's known for its advanced acoustic design intended to support a wide variety of musical genres and its commitment to both showcasing established artists and nurturing emerging talent within Japan’s performing arts scene.
