Eleanna Pitsikaki, a Greek composer and sound artist, will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg on July 3, 2026. Her work frequently explores the intersection of acoustic ecology, field recordings, and contemporary classical music, often incorporating elements of improvisation and site-specificity. Pitsikaki’s compositions often focus on listening as a political and phenomenological act, examining relationships between humans, non-human entities and their environments. She frequently utilizes extended instrumental techniques and spatialized sound to create immersive experiences.

The Elbphilharmonie itself opened in January 2017 after a decade of complex construction. Built atop an existing warehouse structure – the Kaispeicher A – it has quickly become a landmark of Hamburg and a renowned concert hall internationally. Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, its distinctive glass façade and wave-like roof are notable architectural features. The building houses the Grand Hall, seating 2,100 people, known for its exceptional acoustics designed by Yasuhisa Toyota; as well as the smaller Recital Hall and a public plaza offering panoramic views of the city and harbor.
