Dresdner Philharmonie is renowned for its historically informed performance practice alongside a commitment to contemporary compositions. The orchestra’s sound is characterized by a rich tonal palette and precision, stemming from a long tradition of German orchestral playing, while also embracing innovative interpretations. Founded in 1870, it carries the legacy of prominent conductors including Carl Maria von Weber and Kurt Masur.

The concert on May 8th, 2027 will be held at the Kulturpalast Dresden. Originally opened in 1964, the Kulturpalast served as the central cultural venue of East Germany, hosting a wide range of events from concerts and operas to political rallies and congresses. Its architecture exemplifies socialist modernism, though it underwent extensive renovation and modernization between 2013 and 2017.

The renovated building now features state-of-the-art acoustics and technical capabilities while retaining elements of its original design. It functions as a multi-purpose venue housing the Semperoper Ballett, the Dresden Philharmonic, the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Ensemble, and offering space for conferences and other cultural presentations.
