Experience Dresdner Philharmonie live on September 13th

Dresdner Philharmonie is renowned for its rich, Romantic sound and a historically informed approach to performance practice, particularly excelling in the works of German composers like Richard Strauss, Wagner, and Schumann. However, their repertoire extends broadly to encompass music from all periods, demonstrating versatility under various conductors. The orchestra has a long and distinguished history, tracing its origins back to 1870 and evolving through several iterations including a period as the Staatskapelle Dresden’s “second orchestra.”

The concert on September 13, 2026 will take place at the Kulturpalast Dresden. Originally opened in 1964, the Kulturpalast served as the central cultural venue of East Germany, hosting concerts, operas, ballet performances and political events. Heavily damaged by flooding in 2002, it underwent extensive reconstruction and reopened in 2006.

The building represents a significant example of socialist architecture – though substantially modernized – featuring large halls designed for diverse artistic presentations. Today it functions as a multi-purpose venue accommodating the Dresdner Philharmonie as its primary orchestral tenant alongside other performing arts organizations and events. The main hall is noted for its acoustics and capacity.
