Classical Concerts in Dresden

Experience Dresdner Philharmonie live on September 12th

The Dresdner Philharmonie will perform at the Kulturpalast in Dresden on September 12, 2026. The orchestra maintains a repertoire spanning from Baroque to contemporary works, with a particular emphasis on the German Romantic tradition and composers closely associated with Saxony, such as Richard Strauss and Robert Schumann. Known for its rich string sound and precision, the Philharmonie regularly collaborates with internationally renowned soloists and conductors.

The Kulturpalast, meaning “Palace of Culture,” holds a significant place in Dresden’s cultural landscape. Originally opened in 1964, it served as the central venue for socialist cultural events in East Germany. Heavily damaged during the 2002 European floods, it underwent a comprehensive reconstruction completed in 2006. The building now functions as a multi-purpose venue hosting concerts – including performances by the Dresdner Philharmonie who are its resident orchestra – alongside congresses and other events. Its main concert hall is celebrated for its acoustics and modern design while retaining elements of its original architectural style.
