Opened in 1849 as the Rotunda Concert Hall, it underwent significant reconstruction in 1938 following fire damage, resulting in its current Art Deco design by Ernest Voysey. The hall is renowned for its excellent acoustics and intimate atmosphere – seating approximately 1,154 people. It has hosted performances by numerous internationally acclaimed orchestras and soloists throughout its history, becoming a central cultural venue for the city of Liverpool. The hall’s organ, a notable feature, was originally installed in 1938 and subsequently restored in 2017. It continues to play a role in both orchestral concerts and independent recitals. The building itself is Grade II listed, acknowledging its architectural and historical significance.
