Deaf Kaki Chumpy, a musical project originating from Hong Kong, is scheduled to perform at Lazzaretto in Verona, Italy on July 4th, 2026. Their music is generally described as lo-fi, psychedelic indie pop with elements of cantopop and shoegaze, often incorporating deliberately rough production aesthetics and introspective lyrical themes. The group gained recognition for their distinctive sound and DIY approach to music creation, releasing several EPs and albums to critical acclaim within the independent music scene.
Lazzaretto di Verona is a historical complex originally constructed in 1683 as a quarantine station – a *lazzaretto* – designed to isolate individuals suspected of carrying infectious diseases, primarily plague and cholera. Situated on the banks of the Adige river just outside Verona’s historical centre, it served this purpose until the late 19th century. Later repurposed, the site functioned as a military barracks and then fell into disuse and decay.
In recent years, Lazzaretto has undergone restoration efforts and is increasingly utilized as a venue for cultural events, including concerts and exhibitions.
