Experience Danilo Perez live on October 3rd
Danilo Pérez is a Panamanian jazz pianist and composer renowned for a style deeply rooted in Latin American rhythms, particularly those of his native Panama, blended with post-bop and avant-garde jazz sensibilities. His music frequently explores themes of cultural identity, social justice, and spiritual awareness, often incorporating improvisation and complex harmonic structures. He’s a five-time Grammy nominee and has collaborated with prominent figures like Wayne Shorter, Dizzy Gillespie, and Wynton Marsalis. Pérez is also actively involved in music education through his foundation, the Panama Jazz Festival.
The California Center for the Arts Escondido opened in 1998 following a significant civic effort to transform a former Macy’s department store into a regional arts hub. The Center encompasses two theaters – the Concert Hall seating approximately 1,500 and the Lyric Court Theatre with a capacity of around 400 – alongside art galleries and educational facilities. It hosts a diverse range of performances including concerts, theatrical productions, dance recitals, visual arts exhibitions, and youth programs. The Center aims to provide access to both performing and visual arts experiences for the North San Diego County community and beyond.
