Dalia Schaechter, a vocalist and composer recognized for her explorations of Sephardic Jewish music and its intersections with various musical traditions, will perform at the Kollegienkirche in Salzburg on July 30, 2026. Her work frequently incorporates elements of flamenco, Arabic music, and contemporary improvisation, building upon the rich heritage of Ladino song – often sung in Judeo-Spanish – while simultaneously pushing its boundaries. Schaechter’s performances are noted for their emotive intensity and scholarly attention to historical context.
The Kollegienkirche, officially the Church of St. Peter and Paul, is a Baroque church in Salzburg constructed between 1703 and 1706. It forms part of the Kollegienstift St. Peter, a Benedictine monastery founded in 696 AD by St. Rupert, making it one of the oldest continuously inhabited monasteries in the German-speaking world. The church's architecture is considered a significant example of the Salzburg Baroque style, heavily influenced by Italian designs of the period. Its interior features ornate stucco work, frescoes depicting scenes from the lives of Saints Peter and Paul, and a distinctive dome.
