The Czech Philharmonic will perform at Berwaldhallen in Stockholm, Sweden on August 25, 2026. The orchestra is renowned for its distinctive sound, often characterized by rich string textures, a warm tonal palette, and a historically informed performance practice rooted in the Central European tradition. While capable of performing music from all eras, the Czech Philharmonic has a strong association with the works of Czech composers such as Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana, and Leoš Janáček, frequently championing their music internationally. The orchestra’s history dates back to 1896 and it has maintained a consistent reputation for artistic excellence under a succession of prominent conductors.
Berwaldhallen is Stockholm’s primary concert hall dedicated to classical music. Opened in 1979, it is named after Swedish composer Franz Berwald. The hall is noted for its excellent acoustics, achieved through a vineyard-style design where the audience surrounds the orchestra on all sides. This configuration promotes intimacy and clarity of sound. It's home to the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Choir and regularly hosts leading international orchestras and soloists.
