Jazz Concerts in Berkeley

Experience Clare Teal live on December 6th

Clare Teal is a British jazz vocalist renowned for her interpretations of classic jazz standards and original compositions, often incorporating elements of swing, blues, and big band arrangements. Her performances are characterised by vocal dexterity, engaging stage presence, and a repertoire spanning several decades of popular music. She has presented programmes on BBC Radio 2 for over fifteen years, further establishing her as a prominent figure in British jazz.

Berkeley Castle, the venue for the performance, is a historic Norman castle located in the village of Berkeley, Gloucestershire. Originally built following the Norman Conquest in 1067 by William the Conqueror’s half-brother, William fitz Osbern, it remained a family home for over 800 years. The castle is notable for its well-preserved curtain walls and keep, offering a significant example of early Norman architecture.

Throughout its history, Berkeley Castle has witnessed numerous significant historical events including the imprisonment and alleged murder of King Edward II in 1327. The castle grounds include gardens designed by landscape architect Sir Reginald Blomfield in the early 20th century. It continues to be privately owned and operated as a heritage attraction alongside hosting occasional events such as concerts.
