Classical Concerts in City of Edinburgh

Experience Brìghde Chaimbeul live on June 28th

Brìghde Chaimbeul is a Scottish musician renowned for her interpretations of traditional Gaelic song and her innovative use of the smallpipes. Her musical style blends deeply researched historical performance practice with a contemporary sensibility, often featuring unaccompanied vocals or sparse, atmospheric accompaniment. She frequently draws on waulking songs and other lesser-known Gaelic vocal traditions, presenting them with a raw and emotive quality.

The concert will take place at Usher Hall, Edinburgh. Opened in 1879, Usher Hall is a prominent concert venue and one of Scotland’s leading performance spaces. Commissioned by Andrew Usher, a local brewer, it was designed by Robert Rowand Anderson in a neo-classical style, influenced by the Gewandhaus in Leipzig. The Hall quickly became central to Edinburgh’s musical life, hosting performances by numerous internationally acclaimed orchestras and soloists throughout its history.

Significant renovations occurred in the late 20th and early 21st centuries to improve acoustics and facilities while preserving its original architectural character. The venue is known for its excellent acoustics and grand interior, accommodating over 2,800 attendees.
