Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) will perform at Lighthouse, Poole on May 12, 2027. The BSO is a professional orchestra with a broad repertoire encompassing standard classical works through to contemporary compositions and film scores. Historically rooted in the English Romantic tradition, the orchestra is known for its expressive string playing and dynamic interpretations across diverse musical periods. It frequently commissions new works and collaborates with contemporary artists.

Lighthouse, Poole, opened in 1990 as a multi-arts centre. The building itself replaced the former Poole Arts Centre and provides a venue for theatre, dance, music, film and visual arts. Its design incorporates a distinctive architectural style featuring a prominent glass facade and flexible spaces intended to accommodate varied performance needs. The main concert hall within Lighthouse is specifically designed with acoustics suited to orchestral performances. It serves as one of the primary performance homes for the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra alongside the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC). The venue regularly hosts national touring productions alongside locally produced work and aims to serve as a cultural hub for the wider Dorset area.
