Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) will perform at Lighthouse, Poole on March 6th, 2027. The BSO is recognised for its versatile repertoire, encompassing core classical works from composers like Beethoven and Brahms alongside contemporary pieces and film scores. Established in 1893, the orchestra has a long history of broadcasting and recording, and is known for its commitment to education and community engagement across the South West of England. Its musical style is generally characterised by a rich, warm sound and a focus on expressive phrasing.

Lighthouse, Poole, opened in 1990 as a multi-arts centre. Originally conceived as the Bournemouth Centre for the Performing Arts, it was renamed Lighthouse upon completion. The building houses a theatre, concert hall – where the BSO will perform – and a cinema. It’s design incorporates a distinctive architectural feature: a prominent central tower resembling a lighthouse beacon. Throughout its existence, Lighthouse has hosted a diverse range of performances including theatre productions, dance, music concerts (featuring both national and international artists), and film screenings. It serves as a significant cultural hub for the Poole area and wider Dorset region. The venue underwent significant refurbishment completed in 2023.
