Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) will perform at Lighthouse, Poole on January 1st, 2027. The BSO is recognised for its versatile repertoire, encompassing core classical works from across the periods, alongside a commitment to contemporary compositions and film music. Historically rooted in the English Romantic tradition – having been founded in 1893 – the orchestra frequently performs works by British composers and champions new talent. They are known for a warm, rich sound and dynamic performances.

Lighthouse, Poole, opened in 1990 as a multi-arts centre. The building itself replaced the former Poole Arts Centre and is situated prominently on the seafront. It functions as a theatre, concert hall, and cinema complex, hosting a diverse range of performances and events throughout the year. Its concert hall is designed with acoustics suitable for orchestral performances and has become a regular venue for the BSO, forming part of their established performance circuit within Dorset. The venue underwent significant refurbishment in 2017 to enhance accessibility and facilities. It is managed by BCP Council.
