Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) will perform at Lighthouse, Poole on December 16th, 2026. The BSO is recognised for its broad repertoire, encompassing standard orchestral works from the Baroque period through to contemporary compositions. Historically, the orchestra has a strong association with English music, frequently performing works by composers such as Elgar and Vaughan Williams, but also regularly features international repertoire and commissions new pieces. It maintains a commitment to both traditional concert hall performances and community engagement projects.

Lighthouse, Poole opened in 1990 and functions as a multi-arts centre. Originally conceived to replace the older Poole Arts Centre, its design by architect Sir Norman Foster incorporated a distinctive steel and glass structure. Beyond hosting performing arts – including theatre, dance and music – Lighthouse also features a cinema and visual arts gallery spaces. The building’s concert hall is specifically designed to provide excellent acoustics for orchestral performances. It serves as a key cultural venue for the town of Poole and the wider Dorset region, attracting national and international artists alongside local productions. The venue underwent significant refurbishment in 2023/24.
